Tips for Selling your Home During the Holidays
The holiday season from November through January is often considered the worst time to put a house on the market. Though this bit of news may be a downer, the upside is that competition is less fierce with fewer homes on the market, and buyers are more serious (c’mon, anyone who takes the time out of their holiday schedule to house hunt is driven!) While trying to sell your home during the holiday season may not put you in the cheeriest of moods, The Cesi Pagano Team has a few tips for selling your home during the holidays that will definitely help!
Hire a reliable real estate agent
The holidays are always a tough time to be stuck working. That’s why you need to make sure you find someone that is willing to work hard for you and won’t disappear during Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Here at The Cesi Pagano Team, we are highly dedicated to our clients’ success and will to anything to replace your stress with success…especially around the holidays.
Deck the halls, but don’t go Griswold
Homes always look great during the holidays with everyone’s extra TCL, but as a seller, be careful not to overdo it on the décor. Too many decorations can crowd your home and distract buyers. If you want to go a step further, avoid religious themes and go for general fall/winter decorations to avoid offending buyers.
Curb appeal
Keep up with the maintenance of the exterior of your house. Autumn brings falling leaves and more exposed home. Touch up the paint and be sure to rake, clean the gutters, and have well-groomed yard. Also, if you live in an area with snow or ice, be sure that sidewalks, stairs, and driveways are clear.
Make your home feel cozy
Give house hunters a warm place to escape from the cold. Make your home cozy and inviting by:
- Turing on the fireplace before a showing
- Light candles (Autumn scents like apple and cinnamon are perfect)
- Offer homemade holiday treats. This will encourage buyers to linger and keep you fresh in their minds
- Relax and enjoy the holidays
Although selling your home can be very stressful, be sure not to get too caught up in it and miss the holidays. Take a moment to remind yourself that if your home doesn’t sell right away, there’s always next year…which is just around the corner!
