Things to Pack for your First Night in your New Home
After a long day of moving, all you want to do is take a shower, put on your pajamas, and tuck yourself into bed. But wait! Where are the bath towels, my pajamas, the bed sheets, pillows, and…eek, the toilet paper? A move is stressful enough, so plan ahead and pack a first night box filled with the essentials you’ll need right away. Here is The Cesi Pagano Team’s list of things to pack for your first night in your new home!
- Clothes
If you know that you’ll be without your clothes for a while, bring a few days’ worth of clothing so you won’t have to rummage through boxes after you move. Don’t forget workout-type clothing for when you’re unpacking and getting all sweaty, and pajamas for unwinding.
- Toiletries
You’ll definitely want to take a shower after a long day of lifting boxes, moving furniture, and cleaning. So along with your normal toiletries like soap, toothpaste, and deodorant, be sure not to forget these bathroom essentials:
- Toilet paper
- First aid kit
- Medications
- Linens
You won’t want to drip-dry after you get out of the shower, so be sure to bring towels. It’s also essential that you don’t forget your shower curtain, shower rod, and curtain rings. Also make sure you have enough bedding (including pillows) for everyone to stay snuggly and warm during their first night in their new home.
- Air mattress
If you’ve made a move across country, odds are you won’t be sleeping in your usual bed your first night in your new house. Instead of sleeping on the floor, bring an air mattress for those first few nights…your back will thank you later.
- Disposable eating utensils
Packing disposable plates and cutlery will prevent you from having to unpack your dishes and cups at the end of a long moving day. Include antibacterial wipes and garbage bags as well!
- Essential electronics
Don’t forget these lifesavers:
- Cell phone & cell phone chargers
- Laptop & laptop charger
- Nightlight/flashlight
When packing your first night box, make sure the box will stand out from the others on the truck or in your car so you can easily get to it.
