The Best Flowers To Plant This Spring

The Best Flowers To Plant This Spring

It is believed that most flowers need to be planted in Fall or Winter to bloom in the warmer months, but that is not the case for all flowers. If time has gotten away from you and did not get around to planting anything yet, you still have time to get that beautiful garden you want. The beginning of Spring is a great time to plant flowers with the rainfall and the weather warming up, it’s a perfect setting for them to thrive! This is a good time to check out a local nursery and find the perfect flowers to add to your garden. Not sure which flowers can be planted in Springtime? Whether you are looking for bright colors, low maintenance flowers, or something that can spread through the whole garden, here are five of the best flowers to plant this Spring.

  1. Parry Manzanita.

This plant is a nice option for anyone who wants more of a bush type of flower. It grows big enough that it can give your home and garden some privacy, but it is not too much to add besides your other plants and flowers. It is green most of the year, but when it blooms it has white flowers and a small pink fruit, which attracts hummingbirds.

  1. Barbary Ragweed.

This is a great option for anyone who wants a low maintenance addition to their garden. The plant does very well with minimal watering. It starts out with light grey or bluish green leaves, but then in the Summer a bright yellow, daisy like flower blooms from its center.

  1. Geranium Renardii.

With it’s velvety green leaves and gorgeous white flowers with violet stripes, this flower is a must have for your garden this Spring. It is low maintenance, easy to grow, and drought tolerant, making it the perfect California flower! It blooms between Spring and Summer.

  1. California Lilacs.

These beautiful and fragrant flowers bloom in the late Spring and early Summer, making now the perfect time to get planting! Once this plant bursts into full bloom it is a breathtaking sight to behold. Just make sure that you give them enough water initially so that you can appreciate the blue and purple flowers this Spring. After that, this is a fairly low maintenance plant.

  1. California Wild Rose.

This wild rose is perfect for the California climate. It blooms in May through November so you have plenty of time to get it planted before it thrives. When the wild rose blooms, the flowers come in every shade of pink and it lets off a fragrant aroma, attracting different wildlife. Once planted, this is an easy to grow addition to your garden.

Whether you are an experienced gardener or just starting out, these are excellent options to add to your garden this Spring. They all require little attention but bloom bright, fragrant flowers that will surely add a touch of cheer to your home.
