Questions to Ask your Real Estate Agent When Touring a Home
In order to make the best decision on your future home, it’s important that you get your real estate agent’s honest opinion when touring a home. Here are some questions to ask your real estate agent when touring a home to get you started.
What do you like about this home?
Agents tour homes every single day. Find out what makes this particular home stand out in your agent’s mind. What unique qualities does it have? Why do they think it’s a good fit for you and your family?
Is this area growing or declining?
Agents are on the front lines when it comes to recognizing market trends. Ask them about the area. Is it predicted to grow substantially? Will you get a good price down the road if you decide to sell? Your real estate agent should be intimately familiar with the neighborhoods in the area and be able to share their knowledge and expertise to help you make the right decision.
Is the price right?
To see if the home is fairly priced, your agent must know the market trends as well as the sale price of similar homes in the area that have recently sold. Make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.
How long has it been on the market?
If the home has been on the market for a while, your chances of negotiating a lower asking price are a lot better than a home brand new to the market.
Are any repairs needed?
You’ll want to know about all issues that have been disclosed by the sellers. You make also ask your agent if they know how much repairs will cost if something is needed. This way you know what you are paying for and it may allow you to negotiate a lower price.
