You want to protect your home, and the people and things in it; however a home security system,
cameras, and all the bells and whistles may be outside your budget. But don’t worry, there are several
inexpensive ways to make your home less attractive to thieves. Here are The Cesi Pagano Team’s 5
simple home security solutions:
1. Motion Sensor Lights
Motion sensor lights are cheap, extremely easy to install, and will discourage break-ins. If you
already have outdoor lights, you can buy motion-sensing light-fixture adapters, which can be
used to convert existing outdoor lighting fixtures to motion-activated security lights.
2. Man’s Best Friend…a Dog
A dog is one of the best burglar deterrents out there. Fido sits around the house making noise or even looking scary while giving you endless amount of love. If anything is wrong, you’ll be sure
to hear it from your puppy!
3. Deadbolt Lock
Most people think that home security projects take lots of time and money…wrong. By improving the locks on your doors you can be just as safe (and save a lot more). You can install a deadbolt lock in under an hour. Just grab a few tools and a deadbolt from your local hardware
store and you’re off!
4. Plants…seriously
The landscaping around your home can surprisingly discourage burglars. If you select a few difficult-to-dodge plants and place them under possibly points of entry, like windows, you’ll be set! Rosebushes or anything thorny is a surefire deterrent.
5. Lights On, Lights Off
Put interior lights, TVs, and radios on timers so that you can create the illusion that someone is
home when they’re not. Some modern digital timers allow you to control everything via your
smartphone, making it a very convenient option.
