Revamp Your Deck Space

July 28, 2021

It is the season to gather outdoors! However, entertaining your friends or family on an old, dull deck might not be everyone’s idea of a good time. To make your deck space more appealing it might be time for a deck revamp! Lucky for you, refreshing it doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. Try some of these five easy makeover ideas below!

  • Restore your deck.

Depending on what kind of shape your deck is in, it might just need a little love. If the deck is still fairly new, it might need a deep cleaning. You can use a pressure washer and special deck solution to get it to pop again. There are multiple deck sealants, finishing, and cleaning solutions on the market to choose from. If the deck is more worn down, it might take a little more work to restore it. This could include making larger repairs, tightening any screws, re-hammering nails, applying a stain, or painting it.

  • Add light fixtures.

We can not stress enough the difference that good lighting can make for an outdoor entertainment space. If you are looking for an easy installation, consider solar lights. That way you do not need to do any wiring, replace batteries or have a plugin nearby. When the sun goes down, these lights automatically turn on, entirely transforming your outside space into a relaxing, homey paradise. If solar is not your thing, you can add rope lights, twinkle lights, or paper lanterns, to create the mood that you want to set.

  • Add privacy.

Privacy screens come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. For a quick and easy solution, you might consider fencing panels or installing a bamboo lattice. If you are up for a bit more of a challenge, you can build a wooden frame and strategically place vines or beautiful climbing plants to create privacy and add an elegant element to your backyard. Another option is to stretch outdoor fabric in between trees or pillars to gain more privacy and shade.

  • Outdoor furniture.

Having a place to sit and hang out is one of the more important parts of hosting, whether inside or outside the home. There are numerous options for cozy outdoor furniture from chairs, to couches, to benches. The best way to decorate your deck space is to style it like a living room by adding outdoor rugs and coffee or end tables to set drinks and snacks on.

  • Above ground firepit.

A glowing fire can set the mood for any outdoor space. Once the sun goes down, keep the party outdoors by adding an above-ground fire pit to your deck for everyone to gather around. There are so many different styles on the market to choose from. Some options include pits that you can add real firewood to or there are many propane options. These propane firepits range from super simple portable fire rings to more elaborate tables with rocks or crystals in the flame.
