Veterans of War Memorial Day Event – Dana Point

Dana Point Veterans of War Post 9934 presents this annual Memorial Day Event held at Pines Park in Capistrano Beach. This Memorial Day Service will include special recognition for World War II and Korean War Veterans, as a part of the events of the National 75th Anniversary Commemoration of WWII.
This special memorial for all fallen veterans of all wars with flowers to be placed on memorial for loved ones and friends who served our country and have passed on.

Memorial Day Ceremonies – Irvine
Two ceremonies – May 28 & 29, 2017
To honor our nation’s fallen, the City of Irvine is hosting two Memorial Day events.
Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 4 p.m
The Northwood Memorial Ceremony, held in partnership with the Northwood Memorial committee, will take place at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial site and will feature presentations by Gold Star families. Please bring lawn chairs or a blanket for seating.
Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m
The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park. Attendees will have the opportunity to memorialize our troops’ sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will also be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion.

Memorial Day Half Marathon – Laguna Hills
May 29, 2017
Honoring the United States Marine Corps Dark Horse Battalion, this favorite Memorial Day running event takes place in the beautiful Orange County cities of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Woods, and Laguna Niguel. Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to come out and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities!
With a half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles), 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles) and a Kid’s Run (1/2 Mile), there is something for everyone!

Starts in front of the Saddleback Memorial Medical Center and finishes at the Laguna Hills Community Center.
El Toro Memorial Park Memorial Day Program – Lake Forest
Monday, May 29, 2017
11:00 a.m.
The program will feature guest speakers, special musical performances, a wreath laying ceremony, and an honor guard firing salute. The event will take place rain or shine. Parking and seating are limited. If you do not arrive early, it is recommended that you bring your own lawn chair. Admission is free.

Memorial Day Event – San Clemente

The City of San Clemente invites the community to join in our annual observance to remember all fallen soldiers of war. The program features key note speaker Lt. Col. Luke McConnell, patriotic music, bagpipers, and a floral ceremony.
The event is free and open to the public.
